About Liberty Horizons

Liberty Horizons is the future of accounting for small businesses. We pair talented onshore accountants with the right business owner clients to provide a white glove service that has not been provided in the small business accounting industry. We do this through a tech-enabled approach that allows accounting professionals to provide the highest quality and fastest turnaround of accounting, bookkeeping, fractional controller, and fractional CFO services to an underserved market of small business owners.

We are a small team with high standards. That means real ownership, real exposure, and real growth opportunities for the right person. If you want to own a function, work directly alongside senior leadership, and build something that matters to the businesses you serve, this is the right environment for you.

What This Role Owns

You are the Resident Content Creator, embedded with the team and owning the craft from pre-production to post. While the Head of Marketing owns the calendar, the strategy, and the machine, you own the story: what to capture, how to shape it, and how to make it earn attention.

Your north star is simple: feed the content engine with ideas, and see those ideas through to approved idea. One metric above all others, 250,000 weekly reach across both brands. Your work powers the reach and story layers of the 70/20/10 content mix that gets us there.

This is not a coordinator role. This is not a task list. You own pre-production storyline, embedded capture, and post-production end to end. The right person for this role has director-level potential and is looking for the environment to accelerate toward it.

Think DRock embedded with Gary Vaynerchuk, or the founders-and-camera engine behind Mid-Day Squares. This is that role for Liberty Horizons.

What the First 90 Days Look Like

Days 1 to 30: Learn and Orient
  • Fully learn the brands, the audiences, the tone, the cast, and the content history across Liberty Horizons and The Wise Investor
  • Shadow the founder and Head of Marketing on shoots and planning sessions, and start capturing immediately
  • Stand up your full capture-to-publish workflow: gear, file management, editing stack, and turnaround times
  • Complete all mandatory onboarding training
Days 31 to 60: Contribute Independently
  • Own a full production cycle independently: plan, capture, edit, and publish, without it stalling
  • Launch your first recurring series and prove a repeatable documentary format
  • Keep a footage backlog deep enough that the content calendar is never hungry
  • Identify at least one structural gap in the current workflow and bring a specific, actionable proposal
Days 61 to 90: Own It
  • A steady stream of story-driven content is shipping on time, on brand, every week
  • Your work is visibly contributing to the climb toward 250,000 weekly reach
  • At least one mini-doc or long-form piece has landed
  • A documented development focus for the next quarter is agreed with your manager

Responsibilities

Pre-Production and Storyline
  • Hold the storyline: know the arcs being told and plan what to capture against them, weeks ahead
  • Develop recurring series and mini-docs: the weekly Build Out Loud thread, character arcs, client-win episodes, and the founder journey
  • Scout and schedule the moments worth capturing; build shot lists; prep talent so shoots are efficient and nothing is wasted
Production and Embedded Capture
  • Be embedded with the team and document the real build: shoots, meetings, founder moments, behind-the-scenes, the grind, and the wins
  • Balance run-and-gun documentation with planned, designed shoots across both brands
  • Own image, light, and sound well enough that raw footage is usable and on-brand from day one
  • Coordinate with the Head of Marketing and art director on larger shoots; minimum two people on set
Post-Production and Editing
  • Edit short-form and long-form content: structure, hooks, pacing, captions, and sound design, built for the platform and the algorithm
  • Ship fast and ship often, at a standard you would put your name on permanently
  • Maintain an organised footage and B-roll library the whole team can pull from
  • Indicative output: 8 to 12 short-form pieces per week; one long-form or mini-doc per month
Content Strategy and Serialisation
  • Develop and sustain recurring formats and character arcs that give audiences a reason to return
  • Execute the 70/20/10 content mix: reach content, story and culture content, and offers
  • Maintain the distinction between Liberty Horizons (the company, plural "we") and The Wise Investor (the founder, first person) without flattening either brand
  • Contribute to the weekly 80/20 performance review: double down on what works, cut what does not

What an A-Player Looks Like in This Role

  • Documentary instinct: You see the story in an ordinary Tuesday and you press record before you are asked
  • Output quality: Content ships on time, on brand, and at a standard you would put your name on permanently. If it is not a B+, it does not go out
  • Ownership: If it ships, you made it happen. If something breaks, you surface it immediately and come with a fix
  • Story-first editing: You know why a video works: hook, tension, payoff. Not just how to cut it
  • Short-form fluency: You understand what actually earns reach on platform and you study it deliberately
  • Speed and volume: You ship daily-grade volume without dropping the quality bar
  • Embedded presence: People forget the camera is there because they trust you with it
  • Strategic thinking: You understand the difference between content that performs and content that builds a brand, and you pursue both
  • Team contribution: You make the people around you better and more organised by being in the room
  • Values: You do the right thing when no one is watching

Who This Role Is For

  • Someone with 3+ years creating short-form and documentary-style content, ideally for a founder, creator, or brand building in public
  • Someone who is genuinely comfortable behind the camera and confident editing their own work end to end
  • Someone who finds building in public exciting, not uncomfortable, and loves arbitraging attention
  • Someone who is a self-directed operator in a fast-moving, scrappy environment with no hand-holding required
  • Someone who wants real ownership of the craft and to grow fast alongside a high-standard team
  • Someone who is as comfortable in a run-and-gun capture moment as they are in a planned, designed shoot

Who This Role Is Not For

  • Someone who needs a fully defined brief and finished scripts before they can move
  • Someone who is a strong shooter but cannot edit, or a strong editor who will not pick up a camera
  • Someone who sees documentation as an occasional task rather than a daily craft
  • Someone who finds fast-moving, ambiguous environments draining rather than energising
  • Someone whose portfolio shows technical polish but no evidence of storytelling
  • Someone who needs direction and is not a self-starter.

Qualifications

Must Have
  • Proficiency with a professional editing suite (Premiere, DaVinci, or Final Cut) and short-form tools (CapCut, DeScript)
  • Solid command of camera, lighting, and audio for both run-and-gun and planned shoots
  • A portfolio that proves storytelling, not just technical polish
  • Experience with AI-driven content creation platform integrations and generation on Canva, Higgs field, Claude, etc.
Nice to Have
  • Motion graphics, sound design, or long-form and mini-doc editing experience
  • Podcast capture and content repurposing
  • Familiarity with financial services or founder-facing content
  • Experience inside a venture-backed or challenger brand

What We Offer

  • $70,000–$90,000 CAD base salary plus performance bonus
  • Full benefits package
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development and gear budget
  • Direct exposure to a founder-led challenger brand at the ground floor
  • Real ownership of the craft, not a task list
  • A small, high-standard team where your work is visible and your contribution matters

The Hiring Process

This process is deliberate. We are selective because the standard matters, to us and to our clients.

  1. Application and Values Pre-Screen: A structured written values response plus portfolio and proposal submission. This is not a cover letter. You will be asked specific questions that require specific answers. Generic responses will not advance. Your portfolio, a one-page proposal on how you would document the Liberty Horizons and Wise Investor journey in your first 90 days, and your capture-to-publish workflow are all required at this stage
  2. Screening Interview: A 45-minute video call covering values, craft, experience, and fit
  3. Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper conversation on role-specific competency, storytelling instinct, and ownership
  4. The Practical: A paid test shoot-and-edit day embedded with the team. You will plan, capture, and deliver one short piece. This is the single most important data point in the process
  5. Reference Checks: Minimum two professional references, at least one direct manager or close collaborator

How to Apply

Submit your application by clicking the "Apply Now" button below. You will be asked to complete a structured values response as part of the application, alongside your portfolio and proposal. This is not a cover letter. Generic answers will not advance. Tell us something specific and real, and show us work that proves it.
