Most people who call us are somewhere between six months and two years out. Some have a bookkeeper who stopped keeping up. Some had one leave. Plenty never had one and got by on bank balances and instinct until it stopped working.
The common thread isn't the number of months. It's that at some point people stop opening the file, and once you stop opening it the gap grows on its own.
You don't need to know exactly how far back it goes. "Sometime in 2024" is a fine answer on the first call.
We work out the real size of it.
Before quoting anything we count the actual transactions across your accounts and entities. Most catch-up work gets quoted on a guess and then repriced halfway through. We do the counting first so the number we give you is the number you pay.
We rebuild the books from the last clean point.
Every transaction categorized, every account reconciled, every month closed properly. Bank, credit cards, payment processors, loans. If there's no clean point to start from, we make one.
We tell you what we found.
Catch-up work turns things up. Missed deductions, duplicate charges, subscriptions you forgot, income that never got recorded. You get a plain summary of what was wrong and what it means, not a spreadsheet and good luck.

How far back can you go?
As far as you need. We've picked up books that hadn't been opened in two years. Older than that is a conversation, not a refusal.
Do I need to have my receipts organized first?
No. Bring what you have. Bank and card statements do most of the work, and we'll tell you the short list of things we genuinely can't reconstruct without you.
How long does it take?
It depends on volume and how many accounts are involved. You'll get a timeline with the quote, before anyone starts.
What if I've got two businesses tangled together?
Common, and fixable. Multiple entities, intercompany transfers and personal spending mixed into business accounts are all normal catch-up work.
